In The Bride of the Water God, the rightful heir of the Realm of the Ancient Gods arrives in modern-day Seoul to collect the sacred stones. In the process, he encounters So-ah, the last descendant of the family destined to serve the God. As So-ah and the God struggle to get to know each other, the God struggles to decide which of them will return to the Water Kingdom.
In the fifth episode of the series, the water god Habaek, heir to the throne of the Water Kingdom, seeks the help of a psychiatrist, Dr. So-ah. Initially, So-ah is misjudged as a patient, not knowing that she is the descendant of gods. But after she is kissed by the water god, So-ah starts hearing strange things, including the voices of bugs and plants. Soon, the doctor, Yeom-mi, suggests that the cause is her guilt, and she will return to her Water Kingdom to solve the problem.
The drama is set in an ancient time and is about the Water God, who must travel to the human world to retrieve magical stones to become king. In order to find the magical stones, the Water God hires a servant, who will serve him for eternity. The family of the servant is horrified at the thought of serving their new master, but the servant is willing to serve the god for a price.
